Activate a driver early or waive a document

Move a pre-employment driver to Active before every document is in, or waive one required document for one driver with a reason. A waived document shows as Waived, never Complete.

Activate one pre-employment driver

Drivers who accept your offer join your roster as Pre-employment. DriverPass does not move them to Active by itself, so you activate them when they are ready.

DriverPass does not stop you from activating a driver whose documents are not all in. Check the driver's Compliance tab first.

  1. Open Driver Management > Drivers and click the Pre-employment tab.
  2. On the driver's card, click More actions (the three dots), then Activate now (override).
  3. Read the message and click OK. It skips the driver-acceptance step and marks the driver Active right away. The change is recorded in the status log.
  4. For an Inactive driver, the same menu shows Set Active instead. You can also open the inactive driver's profile, open the Actions menu and choose Set Active.

Activate several drivers at once

  1. On the Drivers page, click Select drivers.
  2. Tick the drivers you want, or tick Select all shown.
  3. Click Activate selected. Only Pre-employment and Inactive drivers can be activated this way, and the button shows how many will change.
  4. Confirm. Only the drivers you selected change, and the action is recorded in the audit log.
  5. If you see a message that not every update could be confirmed, refresh the page and check each driver's status before you try again.
  6. You can also open Driver Management > Control Panel, go to Bulk Driver Status and use the Set Active tab. Tick the Currently Inactive or Pre-Employment drivers and click Set Selected as Active.

Waive a required document for one driver

Use a waiver when your checklist requires a document but it does not apply to this one driver, for example a driver hired before you added the requirement.

  1. Open the driver's profile and click the Compliance tab.
  2. Find the document and click Waive. The button only shows on required documents.
  3. Type the reason, at least a few words. It is required and saved to the audit record.
  4. Click Waive requirement.

What Waived means, and how to undo it

The row then shows Waived, who waived it, the date and the reason. Click the reason to read all of it.

A waived document stops counting toward the driver's compliance score, but it never shows as Complete. In an audit, a written waiver is not the same as having the document on file.

Drivers do not see waived documents in their own checklist.

If a document does not apply to a whole driver type, change it in Control Panel instead of waiving it one driver at a time.

The account owner and staff with safety access can activate drivers and waive documents. Staff without safety access get Unauthorized if they try to activate a driver.

  1. To undo a waiver, click Un-waive on that row. The document becomes required again.

Your profile and the documents you upload are saved in your DriverPass account, not only on your phone. Sign in from any phone or computer to see them. If you can't sign in, tap Forgot password? on the sign-in page. If you lose a paper document, upload a photo of the replacement when you have it.
Yes. You'll get automatic alerts when documents are about to expire and can upload renewals directly from your phone.

For Shippers

Not as a report. Shippers use Secure Trip in DriverPass to follow their own loads. For a carrier's compliance documents, ask the carrier directly.

Compliance & Safety

We track license classes, medical cards, background checks, training completion, and more. You'll get alerts before anything expires.
DriverPass helps you keep the records. It stores driver files such as licences with their expiry dates, shows what is missing or expired, and sends reminders before a licence or document expires. Your fleet is still responsible for meeting DOT, FMCSA and provincial rules, and DriverPass does not give legal advice.
No problem. DriverPass lets you assign different compliance checklists by driver type so nothing falls through the cracks.
