Check a driver's previous employers
When a driver applies and agrees to reference checks, DriverPass asks their past employers to confirm the dates. See each answer, and answer checks other companies send you.
How requests go out
When a driver applies to you and agrees to reference checks, DriverPass sends a request to each previous employer in the application. You do not need to press anything.
If the employer has a DriverPass account, the request goes to that account. Otherwise it is emailed to the contact email the driver entered. It is never sent to the driver's own email.
The driver's current employer is not contacted right away. That request waits until you send the driver an offer or hire them.
Each emailed request stays open for 30 days. DriverPass does not send reminders, so call an employer who has not answered.
See where each check stands
- Open Job Board > Applications and click View on the application.
- Click the Employment tab. Each employer shows a status, such as Not sent yet, Current employer: sent when you make an offer, Sent (date), no answer yet, No answer, call (phone number), or Verified by DriverPass.
- When the employer answers, their answer shows under that employer: dates, safety answers, rating and comments.
- To see all your requests in one list, open Driver Management > Work History Verification and click the Sent by you tab. Each request shows Waiting for an answer, Verified, Disputed or Expired, no answer.
Answer a check about your former driver
Other companies can ask you about drivers who worked for you. Your answer is kept by DriverPass and shared only with the company that asked and any company that later hires the driver.
- Open Driver Management > Work History Verification. Requests waiting for you are on the Pending tab.
- For a reference check, click Answer. Say whether the driver worked for you on those dates, answer the safety record questions, give an Overall Rating and click Submit Reference.
- For an older request with Approve and Deny buttons, click Approve to confirm (a star rating and a comment are needed) or Deny to refuse (a Reason for Denial is needed), then confirm in the box.
- Answered requests move to the Approved or Denied tab.
If something looks wrong
Disputed means the employer gave different dates or has no record of the driver. The card shows the employer's dates, or says The employer has no record of this driver.
Answered from a personal email, confirm by phone means the answer came from a free email address, not a company one. Call the company to confirm.
No email, call (phone number) means the driver gave no usable email for that employer. Call the number shown.
Only the account owner can open Work History Verification. Staff with safety access can see each employer's status on the application's Employment tab.
